JULY 2009

Saturday, July 4th, 10:00 a.m. Independence Day Parade in Port Jefferson, all members are welcome to join in the march. Please line up no later than 9:00 a.m. at the corner of First Ave and Stony Hill Rd.in Port Jefferson to march with the Three Village Historical Society. (You will have to access Stony Hill Road where it intersects with Belle Terre Rd., opposite Mather Hospital's Emergency Room. All intersections and streets intersecting Main St. from Myrtle Ave. to North Country Rd. will be closed at 8:30 a.m. to provide a traffic free safe area for the units marching. At this point only units with vehicles in the parade will be allowed to enter. Pedestrians will be required to be dropped off outside this area.) The parade starts promptly at 10:00 a.m.

This tour of the Setauket Village Green area takes one and one half hours. Tour starts at the Setauket Neighborhood House, 95 Main St., Setauket, NY. Please arrive 5 minutes prior to the start time listed to ensure a prompt start. Fee: $3 for members, $5 for non-members.

Saturday, September 12 - Sunday September 13th, Gallery North Outdoor Art Show. The Three Village Historical Society exhibit: The Sailing Circle, and our gift shop will be open to the public.

Monday, September 21st at 7:00 p.m.: Monthly Lecture Series: Selene Castrovilla will talk about her newest book: Upon Secrecy. Meeting takes place at the Setauket Neighborhood House, 95 Main Street in Setauket, NY. 7:00 p.m.- reception, 7:30 Member's Meeting, 7:45-9:00 Speaker. The meeting/lecture series is free and open to the public.

Sunday, September 27th:20th Annual Long Island Apple Festival. Sherwood-Jayne House, East Setauket. Co-sponsored by TVHS, SPLIA and Homestead Arts. Activities include and Apple Pie Baking Contest, music, food concessions, children's activities, and pony rides. Festival is open 11:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

OCTOBER 2009

Saturday, October 10th at 10:30 a.m.: Down the Way, The Wooden Ship Era with historian Beverly Tyler. Tour lasts one and one half hours. Meet at the Setauket Dock, Shore Road, East Setauket. This tour will be conducted at low tide so that the bones of the schooners will be uncovered in Scott's Cove. Please arrive 5 minutes prior to the start time listed to ensure a prompt start. Fee: $3 for members, $5 for non-members.

Monday, October 19th at 7:00 p.m.: Monthly Lecture Series: Long Island Society for Paranormal Research will give the presentation: The Ghosts and Legends of Long Island. Sunday, November 8th, 1:00 p.m.: WALK THROUGH HISTORY WITH FARMER & SPY ABRAHAM WOODHULL In this living history walk you will meet farmer and Revolutionary War Spy Chief Abraham Woodhull, portrayed by historian Beverly Tyler, who leads tour-goers on a walk through the nature sanctuary that was once Woodhull’s farm. Tour-goers are introduced to the woods, fields, ponds and bays that tell the story of Long Island’s colonization and settlement preceding the Revolution and the creation of the new nation. Tour starts at the Caroline Church parking lot at the Carriage Shed along Dyke Road at the Setauket Village Green. Fee: $5.00 per person/$3 per person for TVHS Members. Tour lasts approximately two and one half hours. Please arrive 5 minutes prior to tour start time to ensure a prompt start.
 
Monday, November 16, at 7:00 p.m.: Member Meeting: Candlelight House Tour tickets on sale to Members Only. This meeting is the first time we reveal the locations of the houses on this year's tour. TVHS members may purchase and/or pick up their Candlelight House Tour tickets at this meeting. Meeting takes place at the Setauket Neighborhood House, 95 Main Street in Setauket, NY. 

Saturday, November 28th, at 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.: Candlelight House Tour Ticket Sales at the Three Village Historical Society History Center, 93 North Country Road, Setauket, NY. Ticket sale is open to the general public.

DECEMBER 2009

31st Annual Candlelight House Tour - Friday December 4th and Saturday December 5th. For the past thirty years, the Three Village Historical Society has presented its Candlelight House Tour, a spectacular showcase of select local homes decked out in dazzling holiday finery by talented local decorators. The 2009 Candlelight House Tour will take place on Friday, December 4th and Saturday, December 5th. The tour will feature grand homes replete with stunning architectural features, and customized interior design for the holidays.
