Historic Walking Tour: Discover Setauket's rich history as you explore its architecture and beautiful natural environment. Walk Through History Tours leave from the Setauket Neighborhood House, 95 Main Street in Setauket, across from the Mill Pond. The tour generally lasts one hour and fifteen minutes. (Note: Please arrive 5 minutes prior to the start times listed to ensure a prompt start. No pre-registration required.)

Location: Caroline Church parking lot at the Carriage Shed along Dyke Road at the Setauket Village Green.

In this living history walk you will meet farmer and Revolutionary War Spy Chief Abraham Woodhull, portrayed by historian Beverly Tyler, who leads tour-goers on a walk through the nature sanctuary that was once Woodhull’s farm.Tour-goers are introduced to the woods, fields, ponds and bays that tell the story of Long Island’s colonization and settlement preceding the Revolution and the creation of the new nation.
After visiting sites that include the Woodhull homestead on Little Bay, The Frank Melville Memorial Park and Sanctuary, Little Bay, the high and low marsh at Conscience Bay, Setauket Grist Mill, Patriot’s Rock, and the Setauket Village Green, Setauket Presbyterian Church graveyard and the Caroline Church of Brookhaven, tour-goers will learn how Benjamin Tallmadge, head of General Washington’s Secret Service, set up an undercover message system. Participants on the tour will be given the opportunity to decode maps and spy letters, learn secret codes and compose their own spy messages.
This Three Village Historical Society walking tour is designed for students, families and adults. The cost of the program is $5 per person ($3 for Society members). Additional tours can be scheduled by contacting the Three Village Historical Society at 751-3730.
